Technology School Opening Ceremony (May 2009)
In the afternoon, May 11th, EBT was invited to attend the opening ceremony of USTC Computer Science and Technology School.
Li Guojie, leader of Computer Technology Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences was nominated as the fist president of USTC Computer S&T School. USTC CPC secretary Xu Bin, and School President Li Guojie uncovered the plate together. USTC President Hou Jianguo attended the opening ceremony and gave speech.

The ceremony was compered by Vice CPC Secretary and Vice President Ye Xiangdong. And participators are President of CETC 38TH Institute Wu Manqing, Vice Header of Anhui Science and Technology Department Wang Xun, CPC Secretary of Computer Science and Technology School Tsinghua Univeristy Yang Shiqiang, Department Head of Computer and Engineering School the Chinese University of Hong Kong Lv Zicheng, and leaders and specialists from Beijing University,Nanjing University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Beihang University, Hefei University of Science and Technology, Anhui University, Huaihe Irrigation Committee, etc.

Word famous enterprises like Lenovo Group, IBM China Research Lab, Microsoft Research Asia, Intel Research Center China, send representatives and express their congratulations. And Beijing University, Tsinghua University, etc, about 20 well-known universities sent their congratulation letters.
USTC President Hou Jianguo said that the computer major was first set up in China here in USTC by predecessors like Xia Peisu. USTC Computer Department was established in 1982, and later it become the first high capacity computer center. 2007, the discipline of computer software and theory was graded as national key discipline. Through the effort of generations, the computer science of our university has achieved great development, and has gained fine basis now. As to gear to the development of IT science, to promote science development and personnel cultivation, grounded on the original computer department, USTC decided to establish "Computer Science and Technology School"
